TSOUREKI
Tsoureki is very traditional over Easter. Another name for Tsoureki is Lambro Psomo. These two words stand for “Shining Light” and “Bread”. Tsoureki symbolizes the resurrection of Christ. Known in English as Epiphany Bread it stands for the light given to Christians at the resurrection of Christ.
Tsoureki is traditionally shared on Easter Saturday after midnight mass and is an integral item given as a gift to loved ones over Easter.
Traditionally god parents select a tsoureki and a lambada and give them as an Easter gift to their god children.
Our Tsoureki is made using our 50 year old family recipe and is baked fresh daily everyday until Easter. Our Traditional Tsoureki is made with mahlepi, fresh yeast and butter and comes in 400 and 800gram loaves.
EASTER CANDLES
The Easter Vigil is held in many Christian Churches and includes the lighting of the candles representing the resurrection of Christ. At the end of the midnight mass the light is lit from inside the church and spread amongst the people as a celebrtion of the resurrection. The Lambada is given to loved ones and god children to be used for the church service and to carry the light to bless the home. Once the lambada has entered the home each room is blessed and then the feast begins.
At Dream Cakes we make an extensive range of Handmade Lambades to suit all age groups. Our range includes lambades for toddlers, young children, teenagers and ofcourse adults. Lambades come in two sizes and include white, blue and pink candles and decoration for both boys and girls, males and females.
